PBReader

PBReader eases reading a PDF book on a phone by extracting text from a PDF file so it can be resized to your liking without requiring left/right scrolling. It provides the following capabilities:
- Display PDF text for reading
- Up/Down swipe to read full page of text
- Right/Left swipe to change pages
- Automatically save the current book title, location and page

Additionally you can perform the following via the menu
- Go to page
- Open a new book
- Authorize with Google Drive
- Set default settings
+ Text size
+ Save to Google Drive
+ Theme (Color and Light/Dark style)

If you want the ability to switch devices and pick up reading where you left off then Authorize with Google Drive and Enable Saving to Google Drive. If this is not important to you then don't, the app works fine either way.

I developed PBReader to help me learn Python and Android programming. I liked the end result and decided to freely share it. I am not using PBReader to earn an income, I am just sharing a simple program I wrote.

Privacy Policy
PBReader does Not gather, retain, or transmit any personal information.

PBReader does Not gather, retain or transmit any usage or crash log information.

PBReader provides the ability to save your book title and page number to your personal Google Drive. When doing this PBReader creates a device unique ID allowing multiple devices to run PBReader and save distinct book and page numbers to Google Drive. You can turn this feature on by (1) Authorizing PBReader to access your Google Drive [select Authorize... from the menu] and (2) enabling "Save to Google" [set "Save to Google to Yes in the Settings]. When enabled PBReader will create a PBReader folder with a PBReader.pkl file on your Google Drive. PBReader.pkl is the only file PBReader will ever read or write on your Google Drive. The file is plain text so you can review it. If you decide you no longer want this capability simply turn it off and, if desired, delete the PBReader folder on Google Drive.

Ads
PBReader does not display ads. PBReader does not gather, retain, or transmit any ad relevant data.

PBReader is 100% free. All features are always enabled.

Target Audience
PBReader does not target any specific audience.

Permissions
PBReader uses the following permissions for the reasons specified below:
- Read/Write External Storage: Required to save App Configuration and Book Information to your Android device
- Foreground Service: Required for the PBReader Service to convert the PDF book into PBReader format
- (Optional) Internet: Required to read/write Book Information to Google Drive - Only if you authorize PBReader with Google Drive
